Research has indicated that a high-quality DWI court program significantly reduces recidivism. But what is a high-quality DWI court? The answer is found in the 10 Guiding Principles for DWI Courts as set out by the National Center for DWI Courts (now Impaired Driving Solutions). Following the 10 Guiding Principles demonstrates the integrity of the program and expresses fidelity to the model that has been shown to work.

The checklist that follows allows a person to analyze a program that asserts itself to be a DWI court and determine if it is remaining true to the model.
